Fans of Pittsburgh sports can bet on the Pirates, Penguins, and Steelers at Parx Casino. In the nearest future fans can do this at the ballgame or from the comfort of their home. This is all possible since sports betting were legalized in Pennsylvania.
Sports fans of Pittsburgh have their own share of winning moments including a back to back Stanley Cups won by the Penguins in 2016 and 2017. Pittsburgh participates in various sports leagues. This includes Pittsburgh Pirates for MLB, Pittsburgh Penguins for NHL, and Pittsburgh Steelers for NFL.
Pittsburgh area was also in the Atlantic 10 Conference and the Atlantic Coast Conference. It was represented by the University of Pittsburgh and the Duquesne University. Other schools in the Other Division 1 are Saint Francis University, Penn State University, and Robert Morris University.
Online Sports Betting in Pennsylvania
In August 2018, New Jersey legalized online and mobile sports betting. Pennsylvania followed suit in December 2018 and casinos operating in the area are now embracing online sports betting and introducing Pittsburgh sportsbook. There are also apps available for mobile betting that can be downloaded by iOS and Android devices.
Most of these sportsbooks, including the Pittsburgh sportsbook, are also available in desktop version. While online betting is open to everybody, only those who are 21 years old and older are allowed to wager. These mobile apps are specifically branded for every casino located in the Keystone State in Pennsylvania.
Parx Casino, one of the top-grossing casinos in Pennsylvania, owned and operated by Greenwood Gaming was the second operator to apply for sports betting permit in August 2018. The application is a double purpose for the operator. Not only does the company have a license to offer sports betting, but it also got a license to offer it in other areas.
Aside from the Bensalem area, Greenwood Gaming can offer sports betting at its off-track venues in southern Philadelphia, which is the South Philadelphia Turf Club. Now it is planning to offer online sports betting in Valley Forge Turf Club. Last October 2018, the operator got a conditional nod from the PGCB.
After the approval, Greenwood Gaming announced that it partnered with Kambi, a European sportsbook operator. PGCB issued a license to Kambi on November 2018. In January Parx Casino launched the Parx retail sportsbook.
Kambi also collaborated with DraftKings Sportsbook in New Jersey. The offerings in New Jersey will give bettors the idea of what people in Pennsylvania can expect if they become new customers of Parx Casino.
Parx Casino Retail Sportsbook
Based on the statement that Parx Casino submitted to the PGCB, they will set temporary Pittsburgh sportsbook on the gaming floor of its 360 Lounge. The final Parx Casino Pittsburgh sportsbook is currently under development and is projected to be available in the second quarter of 2019.
For the meantime, the Pittsburgh sportsbook will feature a gaming space of approximately 3,000 square feet wide. For over the counter bets, it will offer seven windows. For self-service betting, there are 12 kiosks available to accommodate the bets. It will also have a couple of 16 feet x 9 feet high definition TVs and 20 75 inches high definition TVs.
In addition to the 12 self-service betting kiosks, 30 more will be made available throughout the floor of the casino. This will be very convenient since bettors will no longer have to find their way to the 360 Lounge just to place their bets.
Parx Casino is the biggest and the most interesting gaming complex in Pennsylvania. It features 180 live tables, 3330 slot machines, a VIP poker room, sumptuous dinner choices, live racing, bars, and a whole lot more. Parx Casino only allows those who are 21 years old and older to place bets.
